Unhappy Constantly loosing connection to the server last 2 days?

Hi Lads.

Last 2 days i have a problem, after i enter my log in name and password and choose a character to log in to the server i getting error message after 3 seconds, which is saying ' You connection to the server was lost. Please check your internet connection. Code 007'. But my internet connection is fine. And sometimes when you able to get connected to the server everything is fine until you have to change the district, I getting the same error.

Anybody has any idea about that, why its happens.

Could it be because of GW update or maintenance?

All answers and suggestions will be very appreciated.

I've been having the same problem.

Strangely, I had no issues getting in my guild hall or American districts, but any district or area change would bring down an err7. I did not manage to enter any European districts.

First I thought it was just my internet being wonky, since I had problems with browsing, but it works just find now and I still can't connect to gw.

I send question to PLayNC and got next answer:

'Thank you very much for contacting the Guild Wars Customer Support Team. We received your ticket regarding the connection problems you are experiencing. The Error 7 you have been experiencing indicates an “ordinary” disconnect from the game. This disconnect can have many possible reasons.

First of all, disconnects can be caused by malicious software on your computer. Make sure that your computer is completely free from malicious software like viruses or Trojans, as well as Ad- and Spyware. If you already have an anitivirus/spyware software, please update it with the latest virus definition files that will be available from the manufacturer.
Next we would like to ask you to deactivate any program that’s running apart from Guild Wars itself. This includes any File-sharing clients (Bittorrent, Emule,…), Control Centers (Quicktime, Winamp,…), Security software (Firewall, Virus-Scanner,…), Voice- and Text-Messangers (ICQ, MSN, Skype, TeamSpeak,…), and any other applications that you can see running in your traybar. This is only for testing purposes, to determine if one of these programs causes the problem you are experiencing. We strongly suggest that you keep your Security software running, except for the time you conduct these tests.

Please consult the specific software’s manual on how to configure it correctly to run Guild Wars, or contact the program’s manufacturer for more information if one of these programs should be the cause of the problems you described.
Furthermore, please de-activate the Windows Automatic Updates for the time you conduct these tests. You can accomplish this by following the steps listed below:

- Open your Control Panel (Start->Settings->Control Panel)
- Select “Security Center”
- Select “Automatic Updates”
- Choose “Turn off Automatic Updates”
- Click “OK” to save your settings

If you’re still experiencing those frequent disconnects, we recommend you check your internet connection for a possible malfunction.
Note: In case of a wireless connection the problem is often caused by a too weak signal strength or the general instability of wireless connection. Try to establish a connection via Ethernet cable and completely disable the Wireless Network in your router's settings.

Should the connection difficulties remain after following all of the steps above, please provide us with as much information as you can about your current set-up so we can further investigate the issues you are reporting.

-What type of connection are you using (Dial-up, broadband, cable, etc)?
-Who is your service provider (AOL, Virgin Media, Zen, etc)?
-Are you using a router? If so, what is the exact model description?
-Are you running any anti-virus or firewall software, and if so, what are the names of their providers (Norton, Black Ice, etc)?

Additionally, the error can be also caused by routing-problems between your computer and our servers. These issues are ISP-related, and unfortunately out of our sphere of influence. For us to further investigate this issue, please follow the steps listed below:

Guild Wars has a built-in diagnostic utility. This test captures computer and network diagnostic information from a variety of sources and stores it in a text file. The Guild Wars Support Team uses this information to locate network issues, detect system configuration problems and identify driver version problems. It takes about a minute to run the diagnostic test; it can be run while Guild Wars is running (that is, without exiting the current game).

To run the diagnostic, perform the following steps.

1. Explore your computer until you find the Guild Wars program folder. It will be in "C:\Program Files\Guild Wars" by default.
2. Right click on the file GW.exe and select create shortcut.
3. Right click on the shortcut and choose rename and change the shortcut name to "Guild Wars Diagnostics".
4. Right click on the shortcut and choose 'Properties'.

The Target window should read:

"C:\Program Files\Guild Wars\Gw.exe"

Modify this line to read:
"C:\Program Files\Guild Wars\Gw.exe" -diag

5. Press OK and then double click on this shortcut to run the test.

You will see a small window that gives the status of the testing. Please wait for all of the tests to finish. When it is done, click Close. The test will create a new file in your Guild Wars folder (again, by default this is "C:\Program Files\Guild Wars") called NetworkDiag.log.

Please send this file to us as an attachment. Hopefully this information will give us more information on why you are encountering the problems you are having.

Thank you very much for your patience and your cooperation.

Hopefully this information will then give us more information on why you are encountering the problems you described. Thank you very much for your patience and your cooperation.

Regards,

GM Greg
Guild Wars Customer Support'

Ive checked everything and it seems it nothing to do with my system , i reckon its just a GW errors, so I going to run this diagnostic program and the the result over to them.

The message you quoted is a 'standard' sort of "you think you're having a problem but it can't possibly be anything to do with us, run this and hopefully by then it will have cured itself" type of message.

I've had bad lag since last week (and only in GW and Second Life, web browsing is fine) - in all districts of any outposts and reported it to Anet support. To be honest, they were patient and took me through the similar process but as my machine is 'clean' and kept so, they couldn't see a problem. Yet - the lag remains, my only thought is that somewhere in the internet, just before the Anet systems - there's a dodgy switch or an ISP who can't be bothered to pay for a faster pipe (or a fallback), as result the whole game is lagging depending on how you route to Anet (if you think that's a sweeping statement then look around here you'll see current threads with lag, low FPS, constant disconnects).

Your best port of call is, if you have faith in your ISP's tech support, is to report the lag to your provider and let them dig around some (after you've checked the house phone wire, micro filters, another router and or modem etc )

Just got replay from PlayNC.

The problem is sorted, for some reason my anti virus program (NOD ESET) start blocking GW. Its very weird , because i use it over a year already and run GW without any problems.
But i guess it could happened because of antivirus updating itself every day, could be one of updates create that. Any way it is sorted atm, I really grateful to PLayNC customer support, they working very fast and they very professional.

I advice to everyone who has similar problems make a diagnostic test and send it over to PlayNC, they might help you as well.

Yeah, I poked around in the Eset Smart Security I have running, and after disabling the firewall and HTTP Checking, I had no problems.

I'm going to try it with the firewall enabled tomorrow, but leaving the HTTP checking disabled. I think that's the problem. Just in time for the triple-drop weekend, too.
